Adobe's Generative AI Has Arrived
Hint: It's Using OpenAI
Dear Artisan,
Adobe held a large event yesterday to show off its new products and their capabilities.
As you can guess, most of it was centered around AI. And boy, did they nail it.
Adobe’s announcement had little to do with new foundation models, or the specs of the new technology they are going to arm their users with. No, the announcement was fun and full of images and videos.
In fact, Adobe will not be releasing new deep tech of its own at all - instead, it will leverage OpenAI, Pika and Runway’s video models to power its Premier Pro suite.
Let’s dive in.

The One Big Thing
One of my favorite things to talk about on this newsletter is the democritization of access to tooling with the advent of AI.
Never before have so many people had so much unfettered access to magical powers as they have today. That trajectory is only accelerating.
Adobe’s demo yesterday shows just how far this movement is going to go.
Adobe announced two key new features in its announcement yesterday: Object Addition & Removal, which allows users to add or remove items from a video, and Generative Extend, which lets users add frames to make clips longer.
I can already feel the sweat of video editors and producers in Hollywood, wondering what this will do to their industry.
This is the definition of creative destruction. Something so powerful comes around and destroys the old order to usher in the new. It’s time to get on board or get left behind.
