Neuralink Is Creating Telepathic Humans
Dear Artisan,
It seems every passing day this month there is another major breakthrough in the world of AI and hardware.
Today, we have a new demo from Neuralink that is truly mind-blowing, and could change the lives of millions of people instantly.
Let’s dive in.
Hot Off The Press
Neuralink’s brain-machine interface enables user to telepathically play online chess
Google used AI to accurately predict floods up to 7 days in advance
ServiceNow Introduces New Generative AI Features for Customers
GPT-5 Could be On the Way This Summer
Sakana AI releases Evolutionary Model Merge, a general method to discover the best ways to combine different models
The One Big Thing
Telepathy is Now the Domain of Humans
This is one of the coolest tech demos I’ve ever seen. A 29 year-old, quadriplegic man shows off the Neuralink implant in his brain that allows him to play chess and move the cursor of a computer with nothing but his mind.
Watch as he plays a full game of chess without the ability to move his arms.
This is the sort of acceleration we are here for.
Over the coming months and years, I expect that hardware will be just as much of a beneficiary of the advancements in AI models and the abundance of compute our world is organizing itself around.
For millions of people around the world with disabilities, this is an immediate use case that fundamentally changes the nature of their lives. More so than robots or artistic breakthroughs, which have been most of our focus on this newsletter, this is an application that will feel more like magic than any other.
With the rise of more powerful AI models that more and more subtle devices can harness and visualize in various formats, we are on the cusp of a breakthrough of 2-3 technologies coming together and creating really transformational experiences in the way we live.
